Mukhtar Babayev is attending the G7 Climate, Energy, and Environment Ministers' Meeting

Mukhtar Babayev, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan and President of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), participated in the G7 Climate, Energy, and Environment Ministers' Meeting held in Turin, Italy.

M.Babayev delivered a speech at the plenary sessions of the event, drawing attention to global climate problems and emphasizing the importance of joint action.

As part of his visit, M. Babayev attended a breakfast organized by “Italgas”, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security of the Republic of Italy and the World Bank, where he discussed the COP29 Presidency's priorities and the challenges on the global climate agenda.

In addition, on April 28, 2024, he delivered a comprehensive presentation on the COP29 preparatory process at a roundtable meeting of ministers organized by "TES Zhero".

At the "Biofuels" International Forum, COP29 Executive Director, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Elnur Sultanov, delivered a presentation on the role of sustainable biofuels in ensuring effective solutions in the transport sector.

As part of his visit, Minister M. Babayev held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Italy, Germany, Japan, Canada, and the UAE, as well as with the US climate negotiator, the UNFCCC Secretariat, the European Commission, the OECD, the African Development Bank, and the IEA.
